Everyone talks to themselves, inside their own head. What are you saying to yourself, about yourself?  This talking happens all throughout the day, every day of your life. Are you saying positive supportive things, or are you highly critical and negative? Regardless of what you do or what happens to you, your own self-talk is the absolute most important aspect of your mental and emotional resistance. Only you control that self-talk.

Inside our own mind, we are all storytellers. We shape our thoughts and create meaning where there would otherwise be none. This power has the potential for good, but it can also be a downside if misused. Therefore, understanding where the mind wants to go versus where we let it go is fundamental. When we gain mastery of our own minds and understand the world as it truly is, we gain mastery over our own reality. Self-perception is an integral piece in this puzzle that is mental health, and by putting it in place we gain access to amazing mental feats, which enable success in any avenue of life.

Self-perception is defined as the way we view ourselves. Not physically, like in a mirror, but within our own thoughts. Many think the thoughts that race through our heads naturally occur, and there is nothing we can do to change them. However, the opposite is true. We actually have the ability to mentally evaluate thoughts as they come into our mind, and change them as they happen. This process is called self-reflection, and it’s a powerful function that defines the human experience. The best way to improve mental health is to understand self-reflection and apply it correctly. In doing so, you will improve your self-conception and be able to improve at a high level.
